The so-called "Prosperity Gospel" Movement has gained steam in the U.S. They base it on a verse used by oral Roberts- Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth. 3 John 1:2 But in the original Greek it is closer to this meaning from the RSV translation Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in health; I know that it is well with your soul. For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect. Matthew 24:24
